Join local artist and clothing lover - Elaine Mullings for this open to all visible mending workshop.
Elaine will introduce you to the wonders of visible repair. Learn about visible mending traditions from across the Globe. Learn some simple hand stitches and techniques to transform your loved and damaged clothing into wearable pieces of history - that shine with your personality.
Super bold or calm and subtle whatever your flavour - mend your favourite pieces and breathe new life into your well loved and worn clothing!​

The Naulettes Community Choir
Thursdays 7 pm - 8.30 pm
Starting from Thursday 24th September
Led by local musical talent Deanne Naula, The Naulettes is Afri-Co- community choir is ready for new voices to join. Join us every Thursday for community, connection and lots of joyful singing.
We're working towards building a confident group of singers who can share their voices harmoniously and with heart. No perfection required, just a love of singing.

Dare 2 Repair
Dare 2 Repair is now on summer break and will return on the 20th September 2026
Dare 2 Repair is a fortnightly textile mending club. Bring your holey jeans, baggy shorts, or mismatched curtains, and with the help of the Afri-Co-Lab Team, we will find a way to make them work!

Every Body Yoga

6-Week courses starting 13th September
Give yourself permission to slow down. Every Body Yoga is a gentle, welcoming space to rest, breathe and reconnect — no experience needed, no pressure to get it "right."
Over six weeks, in small, friendly groups of no more than 8, you'll ease into simple poses, mindful breathing and moments of stillness, all at your own pace. Whether you're brand new to yoga, coming back after a break, or just craving a softer practice.
This course is for every body — including fat, queer, trans, Black and Brown, older and disabled bodies.
Come as you are, and let yourself rest.

Pippa calls it Support Systems — a playful nod to the everyday acts of care that hold us all together, often without us even noticing.

Made from found materials and everyday objects, Pippa's work turns the overlooked into something joyful.

This July, whilst our resident dance maestro Darragh O'Leary is away we are mixing it up.

Starting with swapping the studio for the seafront. _freedomdance_ meets Afri-Co-Lab for a beachside Silent Disco Dance Fitness session. All abilities welcome, no experience necessary, summer vibes guaranteed.

A day of restorative play: as a radical act of community care for Global Majority space holders and facilitators living or working in Hastings, Rother or Lewes.

​This is a free event taking place on Monday, 20th July at Charleston House (Firle). This event is specifically for Global Majority folks whose work or life means they often hold space, take responsibility for others, and struggle to find space for themselves. It is an invitation to put something back in your pot.

The BLACK2HASTINGS Freedom Bus is rolling out again on Saturday 6th June, this time heading to the Great Exhibition Road Festival in South Kensington, London — one of the biggest free festivals of arts, science, creativity and ideas in the country.
​​
Afri-Co-Lab will take care of all the organising and planning, so you can focus on the only job that matters: enjoying yourself — freely, confidently and with fabulous company.

Creative Chill: Monoprinting
to Music with Morokoth Fournier des Corats

1.30 pm - 4.30 pm
Join local artist Morokoth Fournier des Corats for our next Creative Chill: a calming and sensory monoprinting workshop that allows for spontaneous and imaginative mark-making. Morokoth will lead you in slow, intentional exercises where you’ll be listening to and visualising music through automatic drawing, stencils and the monoprint process.
No drawing experience required, just intuition and imagination! Leave with a collection of test prints and two final prints.

Creative Gossips: Shape of the Sea with Rebecca Sinker
Citizen scientist and Clean Water Action-ist Rebecca Sinker is calling a Gossip. The subject: The Sea. The question: How do you feel about it?
Come and explore our relationship with the sea – beyond the headlines of pollution and small boats. Share your stories, your experiences and your feelings about the water on our doorstep and beyond.
Creative Gossips are relaxed, community-led conversations hosted by Afri-Co-Lab. Everyone is welcome.
